Cotswold Archaeology is one of the leading providers of professional archaeological and heritage services in the UK. We provide a complete archaeological service including fieldwork, post-excavation, marine archaeology and heritage consultancy.

Our Heritage Consultancy department works with a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. We have acted as the expert archaeology and heritage consultants on some of the largest and most high profile infrastructure projects in the country. We also have extensive experience in a broad portfolio of projects which span the logistics, residential, retail, marine and utilities sectors. This allows us to work on some of the most interesting and challenging development projects in the country. On-going research projects for the national heritage agencies also allows our team to work at the cutting edge of new thinking in archaeology; while our conservation planning and historic building work allows us to directly contribute to the realisation of improved access to, and presentation of, the historic environment. We support our clients from the first stages of scheme inception, informing and shaping development plans, on some of the most iconic, historic buildings and places in the UK. Our work allows us to support projects all the way through the planning and consenting processes and we are often engaged to act as Expert Witness during appeals.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Heritage Consultant to be based in our Andover office. They will lead a team of seven consultants working across a wide spectrum of heritage projects. An expertise in built heritage would desirable, as would experience of acting as an Expert Witness. Demonstrable leadership and client development skills are essential. Also, following some recent, large and high profile commissions, we are looking to recruit an Assistant or more experienced Heritage Consultant to join the Andover team; an interest or experience in marine archaeology would be desirable but not essential.

We are also looking to grow our teams in Cirencester and Milton Keynes offices, joining established teams historic building and archaeology consultants. Therefore, we are seeking Heritage Consultants with demonstrable experience in undertaking complex heritage assessments, archaeological deposit modelling (urban context would be desirable; GIS proficiency essential) and in drafting chapters for environmental statements.

The successful candidates will require excellent communication and report writing skills, a strong commitment to CPD and the ability to manage a demanding personal work schedule.

Financial and practical assistance with relocation is available, and our competitive benefits package includes paid sick leave, group life assurance, a generous contributory pension and a childcare voucher scheme. If you hold a full manual driving licence and believe you have something to contribute to our team, we would like to hear from you.

For an informal discussion about these roles please call Duncan Coe on 07796 123326.
