More about the role:

If you are an archaeologist with practitioner level experience, looking for a permanent job within a friendly team, this job may be for you.  We have an excellent track record of developing existing staff and we are committed to providing opportunities for career progression at all levels in the organisation. Salary is dependent on competence demonstrated CIfA accreditation, and is set out as follows:

£18,870 to £20,541 per annum pro rata for those demonstrating competence through CIfA accreditation and a CSCS card/Health & Safety Test pass.

£18,672 per annum pro rata for those who cannot yet demonstrate competence through CIfA accreditation, however with supported career progression to the next salary level.

Those working at practitioner level but not yet accredited will be expected to apply for and obtain practitioner membership of CIfA.  Full support through the CIfA application process will be given to those working at practitioner level, but who do not yet have the necessary professional accreditation.

These job roles require a CSCS card, as an essential requirement although if not already held we will support the successful applicants to obtain this during their probationary period.

Albion Archaeology is a trading unit of Central Bedfordshire Council, and a registered organisation with CIfA . We are committed to professional standards, outreach and public engagement and providing high levels of service to our customers. Our main office is in Bedford with transport out to site available from our office base. Some occasional working away may be required although most of our sites are within travelling distance of our base.  This is a field-based role and you should be prepared to work outside in all weathers.

This is a rolling recruitment and applications will be reviewed as they are received, and outcomes communicated quickly. We anticipate that we will also require staff on an ongoing basis and would therefore welcome applications from people who may not be immediately available.  Successful applicants will be placed on a shortlist from which the most suitable candidates will be selected in accordance with our future project requirements.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to undertake a short telephone interview.  Please ensure that your named referees are willing to provide a reference and that they can be contacted using the details you have provided.  If we are unable to contact your referees the process may be delayed.
