Projects Manager

£29,000 – £36,000+ with generous benefits package

Permanent position (following 6 month probation)


Are you a highly motivated, go-getter with an ability to oversee multiple projects, people and plan ahead? Do you have a deep passion for delivering value and benefit through archaeology? Are you an exceptional communicator, highly organised, efficient and with a high work-rate? This position is for a key member of our Management Team to help take the Company forward and requires you to be excellent at your job and an effective leader and motivator. You need to be highly disciplined, a good ‘people person’ as well as a competent archaeologist and report writer and editor. The post is nominally based at Bakewell but could be based elsewhere. We have positions available for an immediate start.

Applications are invited for a professional, highly motivated and capable Projects Manager. You will have experience of running a wide range of projects, motivating and leading teams, planning staff allocations to jobs, co-ordinating post-excavation work, negotiating with local authority archaeologists, producing risk assessments, quality assurance and report checking. You will have responsibility for delivering a wide range of projects and be accountable to the Head of Field Investigations. You will have excellent written English skills and will be responsible for completing work on commercial and research-based archaeological projects on time and to budget and for getting invoices issued promptly. You must have strong IT skills and ideally be competent in the use of CAD. A good knowledge of British archaeology is essential as well as a track record in reports and ideally publication. You must be able to work as an effective team member who can be relied on to deliver to tight deadlines.

Educated to 2:1 degree level or above
Membership of Chartered Institute for
A relevant professional
qualification (e.g. Member of
CIfA) or post-graduate
qualification (e.g. PhD,
Experience of working in an office environment
and conducting oneself in professional manner.
Experience of running archaeological projects,
running sites, supervising and motivating staff and
dealing with clients, curators and the public.
Documented experience of organising and
delivering post-excavation work and producing
high quality written work and reports.
Proven ability to run projects to time and cost and
complete them to client satisfaction with rapid
Experience of health and safety responsibilities
and ability to ensure all staff conform to

Experienced in exercising sound judgement and
