Project Officer

 

£23,000 – £30,000+ with generous benefits package

Permanent position following 6 month probation

Archaeological Research Services Ltd are recruiting Project Officers for work on a variety of project work. We have positions available for an immediate start.

Are you a highly motivated, go-getter with an ability to lead a field team? Do you have a deep passion for delivering value and benefit through archaeology? Are you highly organised, efficient and with a high work-rate? This position requires you to be excellent at your job and an effective leader and motivator of a team. You need to be highly disciplined, a good ‘people person’ as well as a highly competent field archaeologist and report writer and editor. The post is nominally based at Bakewell but could be based elsewhere.

Applications are invited for professional, highly motivated and capable Project Officers with a strong track record and developed skills sets. You will ideally have experience of running field projects, motivating and leading teams, completing post-excavation work and producing high quality reports for a wide range of projects. You will have responsibility for undertaking and delivering a wide range of projects where you will be accountable to a Projects Manager. You will have excellent written English skills and will be responsible for completing work on commercial and research-based archaeological projects. You must also have strong survey and IT skills and ideally be competent in the use of CAD. A good knowledge of British archaeology is essential as well as a track record in reports. You must be able to work as an effective team member who can be relied on to deliver to tight deadlines. Assistant Project Officers / Archaeological Officers

 

Positions available on both permanent and short-term contracts.

Assistant project Officer £20,000- £23,000.

Archaeological Officer £19,200.

 

Archaeological Research Services Ltd are recruiting Assistant Project Officers and Archaeological Officers for work on a variety of project work around the UK. We have positions available for an immediate start.

You will be required to have good team-working ability, enthusiasm and drive to complete tasks and contribute to the operational success of the project. You will have experience of taking part in field projects, contributing to post-excavation work, a sound knowledge of UK archaeology and the ability to write accurate, clear English. You will have responsibility for undertaking and delivering a wide range of projects where you will be accountable to the Projects Manager. You will have excellent written English skills and will be responsible for completing work on commercial and research-based archaeological projects. You must also have survey and IT skills and ideally be competent in the use of CAD. You must be committed to our health and safety culture and positively contribute to Company initiatives. ESSENTIAL
DESIRABLE
EDUCATIONAL AND OCCUPATIONAL ATTAINMENTS
Educated to 2:1 degree level or above
A relevant post-graduate or other professional qualification
EXPERIENCE
Experience of working in a professional office environment and conducting oneself in a highly professional manner
Experience of running archaeological projects, supervising sites and staff and dealing with clients, curators and the public
Documented experience of organising and delivering post-excavation work and producing high quality written work and reports.
Experience of report checking, including DBAs, evaluation, excavation and standing building reports
Experience of successfully working to deadlines, working under own initiative as well as in part of a team

Genuine communication skills
Excellent written English and ability to express oneself accurately and take account of the nuances required in the production of first rate DBAs, evaluation and excavation reports.
